Heirloom Sugar Snap Pea Seeds for Home Gardening

Sugar snap peas are a cool-season vegetable that can tolerate light frosts even when the plants are small. This Sugar Snap Pea is an Heirloom variety seed that is Non-GMO. As its name indicates, this is one of the sweeter peas out there, holding up perfectly in the freezer and can be harvested in as little as 60 days. This pea is great in any recipe and wonderful when eaten fresh, with pods growing up to 3 inches long and the vines reaching around 6 feet.

To plant, directly sow 1 inch deep and 4 inches apart in early spring as soon as the ground has drained and can be worked. It can also be started indoors with peat pellets, seed starter soil, or seed starting mix, and then transplanted outdoors. For a plentiful fall harvest, plant sugar snap peas in the last 8 to 10 weeks before the first expected frost. This pea does well on a trellising system, so be sure to stake, trellis, or cage the plants for added protection against diseases and for an easier harvest.
